Founder Kristen Pflibsen has been in the marketing industry creating new niches since 1999. She started ikanikon as a part-time freelance side hustle in college when she learned that clients of portfolio-focused graphic designers only getting a file (back in the floppy disc days!) that the clients then had to bring to a printer for printing quotes that resulted in projects having to be redone by print production graphic designers in order for the printing to be affordable. Krista learned print production graphic design and became a print broker with a network of wholesale printers that gets clients unique projects that are also affordable to print. She handles all aspects of printing so clients get finished tangibles not a file.
When the economy got rocked in 2008, she was laid off from her full-time day job and took that as an opportunity to learn coding for UI web site development rather than just web design as a visual UX web designer.
In 2008, ikanikon got its first page 1 Google rankings organically (free forever) and learned this fact because a student from the same college she went to contacted her from a Google listing because the hardest professor Krista ever had in 6 years of college (Bachelor of Arts + minor in Business and Marketing as a dual degree + Fine Arts degree), Mr. Veers, was using Krista as an example of a successful entrepreneur from 2002 to 2008! He had also nominated her for the Founder's Award, which is the biggest honor the school offered. When Krista asked the student how she found her she said Google.
Between 2008-2025, Krista scaled ikanikon building even more successful businesses that had previously been struggling by also getting them page 1 Google rankings.
In 2025, Krista created the proprietary marketing system that is changing the game for businesses and startups. She transitioned the business to an online store that sells instant downloads and markeitng downloads that include marketing training and strategic marketing plans, cross-platform marketing of all different types and levels that is very fast and easy for even inexperienced novices to do professional marketing that gets outstanding results.
